John McCaffrey is a consultant anaesthetist based at the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust. He completed his anaesthesia training in Northern Ireland and was awarded a dual CCT in both anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine.

He spent 2 years working in Australia in Critical Care Medicine, completing the ANZICS fellowship during that time. His clinical interests include applied physiology, mechanical ventilation, perioperative medicine and in particular enhanced recovery for surgery. He is past president of the Northern Ireland Intensive Care Society.
