TORC Investors

MITRE Trust is a charity based at Musgrave Park Hospital, Belfast. It aims to raise money to improve patient services and to fund new developments at Musgrave. MITRE has been active for over 30 years and raised over £11 million for the benefit of patients and staff at Musgrave Park Hospital, for example, £3.5 million to fully fund a state-of-the-art Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine facility, £1 million donated towards the cost of completing the build of the Neurology Unit, £250,000 donated towards the build of Horatio’s Garden in the Spinal Cord Injuries Unit, two MRI scanners at a cost of £2 million were fully funded along with various other projects and equipment, all aimed at improving patient care. MITRE has recently been able to provide bursaries to allow staff members to acquire further education for the benefit of our patients in many areas of the hospital. Mitre has invested in TORC since 2019 and provides much needed funds to help TORC continue with vital research. This year they are providing funds to help part fund a refurbishment project of the existing BART Room in Musgrave Park Hospital. This will create new training and education hub for hospital and research staff.

Ulster Garden Villages was established under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act (Northern Ireland) in 1946 with the principal objective of providing good quality housing and associated amenities for the disadvantaged and aged. They aim to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of people in Northern Ireland and continue to support a wide range of charitable causes. The Society primarily allocates funds to projects within Northern Ireland that will have a positive impact on the local communities. Ulster Garden Villages have proudly supported TORC in various projects including part funding a VirtaMed Arthroscopy Simulation Equipment for Musgrave Park Hospital. They are also providing additional funding for the refurbishment project of the existing BART Room, which will also be used as a Training and Education Hub for clinical and research staff plus trainee doctors and students.

Enkalon Foundation was founded in 1985 following the closure of the British Enkalon factory in Antrim. As the foundation grew, support was offered to charities and community groups across Northern Ireland. To date the foundation has given out over £5 million across Northern Ireland via 6,500 grants. TORC are delighted to receive funding from the Enkalon Foundation to help support our work and specifically part fund the TORC Professional Series Reduce Swelling Bone Foam Pillow for hospital use. This product will allow for fracture patients to recover in hospital with comfort and help reduce swelling after surgery.

The Benefact Group is a charitable giving foundation that has been funding charities for over 135 years. They are an international family of specialist financial services companies that give all available profits to charity and good causes. The Movement for Good Awards is their annual programme of giving and give over £1million to charities and good causes – with the help of the general public nominations. TORC was selected to receive a £1,000 donation as part of Benefact Group's Movement for Good Awards. Members of the public were invited to nominate good causes and winners, including TORC were drawn at random. This donation will go towards part funding for our Reduce Swelling Bone Foam Pillow for hospital use.
